About Iain MacDonald

When asked how long I’ve been an artist, I usually say since birth because for as long as I remember, I have been fascinated with drawing and painting people. At a very early age I created my first character studies, drawing the faces of my mother and father. At the age of 12 years old I was chosen to represent my school at the Glasgow Art Gallery. Throughout school, as I completed my education in the aerospace industry, I never wavered on my passion to explore and express my art.”

Whether painting a scene of lovers embracing, a portrait of Andy Warhol, a mysterious woman, or a rugged Newfoundland fisherman, Iain’s gift lies in his ability to capture the essence of his subjects on canvas.

Since moving to Canada from Scotland, Iain has been a member and supporter of the Mississauga Arts Council and the Heritage Council of Ontario. He has had showings in both places and was also invited by a jury to show at the annual Speak Easy Gladstone Hotel Event.
